What makes someone buzz worthy these days? It turns out with so many various ways of generally buzzing about nothing through tweets and Facebook updates and blogs, not to mention the usual star-spotting sites like MySpace and Youtube, creating a buzz is just a matter of an Internet connection.

But it doesn’t hurt if that Internet connection is being manipulated by a connection on the A-list as well. Although the band doesn’t perform the mainstream quasi-pop version of country music that has Taylor Swift radio’s favorite country gal, the Civil Wars received their first bout of buzz after Swift tweet, when she said about single, Poison and Ivy, You can't push 'repeat' on vinyl so I keep setting the needle back on my record player." Other music big shots that have tweeted about The Civil Wars include Sara Bareilles and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum.

The duo band, comprising, Joy Williams and John Paul White, one looks like Sarah Michelle Gellar and the other like a red-neck version of Johnny Depp, met in Nashville and play Indie-folk music that has the heart-wrenching harmony of Lady Antebellum with the haunting tenderness of an Alison Krauss and Robert Plant collaboration. The two combine to form a new version of folk music made in Nashville – Williams being originally a gospel singer and White having originally been a rocker.

The band’s download only album is a compilation of the songs at a live performance at Eddie’s Attic, which was only the second time that the band had done a live performance and was when the band opened for fellow Nashville singer-songwriter, Will Hoge.

After the Taylor Swift buzz, the band was then featured on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy and also performed Barton Hollow on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Most recently Adele invited the band to open her tour in America and Canada and plugged the band on her blog by saying"...I have the complete honour of having a band called The Civil Wars on the tour at the moment. They are by far the BEST live band I have EVER seen. They are magical and stunning, they make my heart hurt but make it a bit stronger at the same time too! Perfect timing! Please check them out, their record is beautiful. And if you're coming to any of the shows on this trip make sure you get there early to see them. I’ve never been so blown away. I could go on gushing forever…’. The Grammy-nominated singer, picked single, Poison and Ivy as her favorite and attached the videoclip on to her blog.
