When you’re a wanted man by loan sharks you make music without a last name and dream of playing video games with Lil Wayne? That’s the story of this week’s rising band.
From Massachusettes, Dom, is the leader of the band Dom, and yes he does have a last name but claimed he will never reveal it as he owes a lot of money to people. Maybe when he becomes famous enough to pay the money, the great mystery will be revealed. And lets hope for Dom’s sake that the people whom he owes the money to are only looking for him by a google search of his last name and have no idea that he looks exactly like the pictures of him on music magazines and at music festivals.
Dom may sound ridiculous so far but that’s just the way his life story goes – there’s nothing worth idolizing about the way he began making music. He was placed in foster care because apparently his mother didn’t like him for his red hair and liked him the least of all her 6 kids. He wandered in and out of jobs and finally made quick money to buy a guitar by trafficking illegal substances.
He is not your rock and roll hero. But he is making good music worth listening to…even if he does sing like a girl. Apparently the reason he sounds like a girl is because that’s his version of falsetto. It doesn’t sound like Chris Isaak falsetto, it sounds a little like ‘pre-puberty’ Wheatus.
His music is sometimes fuzzy-pop and sometimes chillwave indie-rock laced with synth effects and 1980s like electronica and he sings about substance abuse and why living in America is apparently sexy. The band’s first EP released recently is called Sun Bronzed Greek God.
Band: Dom (lead vocals, guitar), Bobby (drums), Erik (bass), Cosmo (guitar).
